the uhaul experience

what are the chances? i blog about my moving experiences and the next day a friend posts pics of the awful moving experience where the uhaul engine caught on fire! or maybe emily c reads my blog and i didn't even know it! either way, here are 2 pics from "the uhaul experience"! the treacherous adventure involved an ambulance, a firetruck, and a tow truck!!

moving day

after living with dave and deborah for the last year (thank you, thank you, thank you!), i decided it was time to move out! my months of student teaching are finally over and i am now making some money, so it was time to find a place. i found a great friend to move out with...abby...and found a fabulous apartment in orem.
(did i mention that i absolutely hate moving? 2 years ago while moving, the uhaul truck i was driving caught on fire while i was driving on the freeway!! then, 1 year ago when i moved down to utah, we drove through the craziest snow storm i have ever seen! 18 hours of driving through blizzard conditions in a uhaul while towing a car is no bueno! thanks to dad for all of the help--he did most of the driving.)
anyways, i hate moving, but i love our place. luckily, this move went smoothly and culminated in a little housewarming party last night. here are some pics of the new place and the party!

sundance film fest '09

well, i should've written about this much sooner, but you know how i roll! too busy to blog. this year i decided not just to go to sundance films, but to actually volunteer at the festival. so, i sold my soul to sundance from january 16-25. in addition to working around 50 hours/week at work, i volunteered more than 35 hours within that timeframe. needless to say, i was exhausted, but it was totally worth it! i met a few celebrities and ended up seeing 17 films!

here is the list of films:

Prom in Mississippi *
Nollywood Babylon
Barking Water
It Might Get Loud *
Taking Chance *
500 Days of Summer *
Glass House
Good Hair *
We Live in Public
Sin Nombre *
Cold Souls
Push: A Novel by Sapphire *

(i put *'s by the ones i liked best!)

consistently inconsistent

hmmm....ok....where do you start when you haven't blogged in months?!

well, here's a video about being consistently inconsistent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3mnst40_9c&feature=related

and one more quickie...

i just had to add this pic, too!

just another little joke we played on rob! i have to give joanne all the credit on this one!

that stands for world's worst blogger.
i know it. you know it. i'm trying to change it, but obviously that hasn't happened yet.

i wanted to post today b/c this is the cutest video ever. i showed it to my history students b/c we're studying politics and the election...oh yeah, and b/c these kids in the video are pretty much the cutest things EVER!

obama on the left, mccain on the right! you can vote however you like!!

when i do finally catch up w/ this blog, here's what you get to hear about:
1.mexico...yeah, it was way back in august, but i'm the w.w.b., so of course it's not on here yet.
2. my school and classroom...i've got pics--get excited! nothing more exciting than a school. but, my school rocks, so it is kinda cool!
3. dew tour...yes, i'm 32 and went to the dew tour skate competition!
4. my b-day...sweet 16 x 2. (yes, that equals 32!)
5. my fun trip to seattle
6. by the time i finally post, halloween will for sure be over, so i'll post pics from the adventures i encounter on the 31st!

excuses, excuses

remember my first post when i made no promises of being consistent with this blog??!!
ok, just making sure! things have been crazy busy this summer. so, in typical bev fashion, i'll go weeks with zero posts, then add a couple at a time. here's number 2 of the night. then i'm going to bed and will try to post more this weekend.

so, i've got some excuses as to why i haven't blogged lately. i decided to find a good quote on excuses and found this one (and when i say good, i mean lame!):

"People with integrity do what they say they are going to do. Others have excuses." Laura Schlessinger

i knew i hated that crazy right-wing judgmental dr. laura for a reason!

on to my lack of integrity, also known as a list of excuses (haha!):

1-i took 20 credits summer term ( i just finished last week, taking 3 finals the week before school started) and let me tell you, i am so happy to be done w/ macroeconomics!

2-which leads to the next excuse, i started student teaching on monday (8/25). i'm technically student teaching, but i'm actually teaching 3 classes--i have 4 junior high u.s. history classes, a pre-algebra class, and sociology. it has been so much work trying to prepare for 3 different areas of study! this week i was at school 14 hours monday, 13 on tuesday, 14 on wednesday, and only 10 today! remember, i am not getting paid, as this is student teaching. actually, i'm paying for it, since i'm paying for the credits to student teach!! but i absolutely love the school i'm teaching at! LOVE! it's the walden school of liberal arts in provo. http://web.mac.com/dianamadsen/Walden_Webpage/Home_Page.html yeah, it's too bad it's in provo b/c i wanted to live in SLC, but the school, the director, the teachers, the parents, and the students are all amazing! i am SO happy to be here and feel SO lucky/blessed!! which leads to excuse number...

3-i went to mexico for a week (8/11-8/16) with our junior high students, 2 other teachers, and 5 parents. we worked at an orphanage for a week! it was so great! many pictures to come!

so, those are the main excuses why i haven't been blogging lately. mainly b/c studying and school have taken up most of my time. and there have also been several random crazy dates. boys in utah are weird/crazy/psycho!!!! i never know who's reading this, so those stories will have to be told on a person by person basis!

so, goodnight...more posts and pics later!
